Final assignment: Paint your legacy

For years, I believed I had to earn my place. I was constantly seeking validation, convinced that getting better would eventually make me good enough. The competition brought those old beliefs back to the surface: perfectionism, self-doubt, the feeling that I still had something to prove.

The final assignment became an invitation to turn inward instead of seeking approval from the outside. Hidden in the painting is a poem about that journey:

She rose from the fire,
not to become someone new,
but to come home to herself.

This work reminds us that we don’t need to become someone else to be valuable. The parts of ourselves we prefer to hide often become our greatest strength once we learn to embrace them. It is for anyone who has ever doubted their own worth: the gold we have been searching for all this time was already within us.
